Goodbye undergraduate life; hello real world

Graduation was last week.
At first I was excited. Then I wasn't so excited because I realized I didn't have any friends to walk with. But then the day of, I got excited again.
It was a lot more exciting the second day, when they announced my major, my name and I walked across that stage in my cougar blue, too large gown to get my diploma (cover) and shake hands with the dean of my school and other administrative folk.
Now it's really summer. And I have to admit, I am not a fan of it.
Doesn't help that all my friends are gone, home, on vacation, just out of town.
It's hard keeping myself entertained with no one to hang out with.
It still hasn't hit me that I am a college graduate.
Maybe that's because I don't know what I'm doing with my life still, or because I don't actually have a job yet.
It might hit me when school starts up again the end of the month and I'm still lounging around at my mom's house. Geez, I need to find a job.
Any suggestions?

i'm a busy busy bee...while still maintaining serenity this weekend

the boys we normally hang out with are gone, leaving the girls around to CHILL. it's been awesome. I sat on my couch for hours yesterday with nothing to worry about. Today I...watched the homecoming parade march down 800 north, past my apartment. I watched the first half of the USC/ASU football game, AT mark's apartment haha, since I have his keys. I went to and froze at the BYU/New Mexico game. Luckily we won, otherwise I would've been miserable.
Even though I haven't been SUPER busy this week, I just feel like I've been posting a LOT lately, meaning I might actually have a social life? haha wow...what a concept!

the california girls at the BYU v. New Mexico homecoming football game...it was FREEZING!
the other girls
me and linds walking home from the game, attempting to take pics. haha. this is the 4th of 4 attempts.
walking TO the game. linds wasn't quite ready i don't think...haha.

the good and the bad

i've decided i wanted to list some likes and dislikes thus far from this new fall semester (it being my last one....crazy, eh?)

LIKES:
  • my ward. actually, i LOVE my ward. i've met so many fun people and have already begun to feel comfortable here, unlike my last ward, which i liked, but took me a while to get used to.
  • having my sister here/living with her. it's weird, but we don't hang out as much as we did the first couple weeks, but i think that's because she's finally feeling like she fits in here (to a certain extent) so she doesn't need me all the time. but really, it's nice having her here because i know i will always have someone to hang out with if everyone else is gone.
  • my apartment. i still have to take pictures, but i love it. it's so cute. and everyone that walks into it for the first time loves it too. i don't even mind the fact that i don't have my own room this year.
  • my new FRIENDS. seriously. i hang out with them ALL THE TIME. it's like we all just clicked. we were meant to be friends or something. they're the ones i call on a bad day or when i have a story to tell. it's fantastic.
  • my old friends. i never get sick of them :) i love that we're all reunited and that i can always count on them. plus, all my freshmen boys are back as well, so that's quite fun, and quite the experience.
  • the warm weather we've been having lately! i don't remember it staying this warm this late in the season the last few years i've been here, but it's fabulous. i am thoroughly enjoying it.
  • the number of dates i've been out on thus far. i'm not normally a dater, nor do i get asked out, but for some reason, i've been on a few this semester....like, a record breaking number (for me, at least)
ok, now the DISLIKES list:
  • classes. they're hard. and all of a sudden, i have all of my assignments due. NO BUENO.
  • the number of dates i've been on. again, like i said, i'm not much of a dater. i'm not saying i didn't enjoy the dates, because i did, but it's caused some, well, some minor difficulties. already i'm conflicted about certain things. not what i wanted to experience this early in the semester
  • the fact that i don't have a car this semester. it's hard. i can't go anywhere i want to anytime i want to. major bummer. i'm also limited in the friends i can see, since a lot of them still live farther away from me. however, on the plus side, it means i get to walk a lot more, thus getting my body more in shape.
  • the idea that i am graduating in 7 months. that's a hard concept to grasp. i didn't actually think it was going to happen in 4 years, but it turns out, it is. it's good in some sense, but i'm scared. i think that's the biggest thing right now.
however, i am trying to take every opportunity available to me and to experience everything provo has to offer. everything means more to me now that i know i won't be back next year. it's my last fall semester, my last football season, my last real year of college.
but here are a few things i've done so far (if i can remember them all...)
  • Spoon Me trips with Lana, Mikey, Stacey, Bri, Jason, Brent
  • Movie nights with Mark and Chris (only rated R haha)
  • Football games, aka losing my voice every weekend
  • Pizza Factory with Stacey and Bri
  • Costa with Bri, with Brad
  • Full moon lift ride at Sundance with Mark
  • Laser Tagging with Eric and everyone else for a big group date
  • The Rocket Summer Concert featuring the Morning Light, the Secret Handshake and Phantom Planet with Michael and Mark, and Aaron and Sarah (where I caught the drumstick from the Secret Handshake's drummer!)
  • Sonic and TB run with Michael and Mark
  • Park City Outlet mall with Chris, Mark, Michael, Aaron and Sarah
  • Bonfires with Lana and Mikey
  • Salmon dinner with the boys
  • Rock the Block
  • Late night talks with Chris and Mark (where they were pampered with back massages for a good hour and us girls just suffered without hah)
  • Office party tonight
  • Free bowling at the Wilk with the CEO club
all in all, i've enjoyed these first few weeks and can't wait to see what the rest of the year holds for me! hopefully some good things. and hopefully the things that i've been worrying about the last couple of days won't actually be true/come true.

back to school

Yes, I am finally back to school...3 weeks later...and i FINALLY have a computer again! I went for the macbook and boy, am I happy with that purchase! I absolutely ADORE it. I love having my own computer again, where I can use it whenever I want and put whatever I want on it. It's fabulous. School is school, but I love being back in Provo with my old friends and my NEW FRIENDS. i adore them too. i don't have any pics yet (bri has them all) but let's just say that i love it. my ward is fantastic and it's not too shabby living with my sister...i ALWAYS have someone to hang out with/do something with. it's great. Senior year is starting out to look FANTASTIC!
oh and did i mention? i'm graduating in april...aka august...but walking in April...YIKES! so crazy!

a picture of bri and i that i took on photobooth last night...i think i'm gonna enjoy this year...

almost done?

I have 2 days of classes left in my 3rd year at BYU. weird? Yes. Just a little. I honestly can't believe how fast these last 2 years have gone. I thought they would be a lot harder (not saying that they weren't) but it wasn't as bad as I expected. Too bad I won't actually be graduating next April like I had originally planned. I still have 24 hours left in my major, so I'll be around for a while. I'll most likely stay for Spring and Summer next year and get some lame classes out of the way. At least I can say that I am (after finals) officially done with my GE's. Not bad. Now it's all downhill from here. And I've gotta figure out what I'm DOING with my life. I've got time though, right?

Well, I just finished writing my 10 page research paper on Roe v. Wade. The beginning few pages I feel really good about, but towards the end, I think I ran out of things to say (i know, right?) and feel like I just repeated myself a lot. And I did spell check to see how my readability was (something I learned back in middle school) and it was listed as grade 12. now, given, I don't think I was able to get a 12th grade reading level in 12th grade, so that's not bad, but still...I'm a third year college student, I shouldn't still be writing at a high school level, right? (but then again, maybe that's as high as it goes...) I haven't emailed it to my professor yet just because I'm scared to. I'll re-read it tomorrow morning when my brain is functioning a little bit better and then I'll send it. Once it's in though, I'm home free. Just 4 finals to worry about/study for and then I'll be back in sunny Southern California for 2 weeks. Then, flying to Maryland for the best summer of my life. I can't wait.

march already?

dang, i just realized i only posted once in the month of february. that is no bueno. apparently i'm extremely busy. OR, i just don't have anything exciting to post about.
but honestly, it seems like everytime I think I've caught up with school, I'm falling behind again. It doesn't help that I'm not making good use of my time...I just can't seem to be able to concentrate on anything when I'm at home, and I'm becoming too lazy to go to the library where I know I can get work done. It also doesn't help that I've been having a hard time WAKING UP in the morning...I feel like something is wrong with me. like medically. I don't know if that's actually true. It probably isn't, but it's nice to blame my own laziness/problems on something I can't control, right?
*Sigh* I suppose it's time I actually put some focus on school work and make it a main priority again. Unfortunately, the snow is melting, so I think I'm forced to make school important. dang it. Goodbye winter. I shall miss thee. Until we meet again....sc
