i've been re-watching all the seasons of One Tree Hill lately (thank you netflix!) and I sure have enjoyed it. i loved this series from the beginning. i loved the drama, i loved the relationships, i loved the storyline, everything. re-watching it is like reconnecting with old friends again after a long time apart.
i can't tell you how many times i've seen seasons 1-4. having soapnet while in school was probably detrimental to my GPA. and watching it now, on netflix, back to back, is interesting. i had forgotten how quickly things happened (one episode a week really drags out a series, ya know?) and how much drama there actually was (plus, how unrealistic their timelines were...)
i'm getting through season 6 right now (the last season with lucas and peyton, in case you didn't know. SPOILER ALERT!) and i decided it was a really bad choice to watch this season while at work. it is SO SAD, and so emotional. i sit and cry practically every day.
but as i'm watching i've realized a few things:
--how similar peyton and i are
--how similar my life {had} been to the peyton-brooke-lucas love triangle
--that i want my own epic love story like lucas and peyton, or even brooke and julian
--that i yearn for someone to call my own, for someone to love me, and will let me love him unconditionally
--and i start getting unrealistic expectations about how i think my own life should be (when in actuality, my life is dramatic enough for it's own sitcom, if only television could adequately portray all the confusion that goes on in my brain...now that would make for a good story line)
i've got one more season left of the seasons i've seen before (i could only handle one season without peyton and lucas before it got to be too much for me) but i am bound and determined to get through all 8 seasons before the january 11th premiere of the LAST SEASON EVER. i watched a couple episodes during season 8, but with my lackluster performance during season 7, i was a little confused about what was going on. i'm sure i can manage to charge through the next 48 episodes before then, right? :)
i also forgot how AWESOME all the music was for this series. i have most of the albums from the seasons, but going back and watching them again, i pick up a lot more songs that i know now, that i obviously didn't recognize then. (i'm hoping that means that my music selection has improved significantly, if i now listen to the music they played on the show way back in season 4, or that i just finally figured it out)
and did you know that every episode is titled after a song? yeah, that's how important music is to this show. pretty cool. :)
