you know you have a really fantastic group of friends when at the wedding reception of two of them (to each other) you can all circle up and perform a made up dance to Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA" and have all the guests watch. (this was entirely impromptu. it was not planned prior to the event. the song popped up and none of us could resist dancing to it).
i was so happy at that moment, i was close to tears. though i have good friends here in salt lake, and friends back home, nothing compares to this group. i think the fact that a lot of us are spread out now made it all the better, and more sweet. we've got caitlin and colton who just got married, corbin and brittany that are getting married in 2 weeks, kasey and anna getting married in february, abby moving to NC in january, me, jameson and judy in salt lake, natalie in mississippi, steve moving out of the ward, morgan in beaver, and others graduating. this is probably the last time that we were all going to be together, and it was definitely quite the sight to see.
needless to say, this weekend was pretty fantastic.
friday night was the ward christmas party where i was able to quote one of my favorite christmas movies: "the best way to spread christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear" (and also see snow, since we were up millcreek canyon)
then saturday was the reception. and saturday night i was able to go to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's annual Christmas concert, which was fab.
and now i get to work 40 hours in 4 days in order to drive home to CALIFORNIA on friday. i am very excited to be off for an entire week (and even more excited to not have to drive back to utah the day after christmas like i did last year. there is going to be a lot of great things happening while i'm at home: family time (obviously), vanessa gets home from brazil!!, corbin and brittany get married in LA (which means my boys come out to visit as well), and vanessa's homecoming talk before taking off for utah.
yay for wintertime!
