i've mentioned before how people have called me "the best fan ever" and i have to admit, it's true.
i don't care if it's amateur or professional, intramurals or the national championship game.
if it's a team or a player or a friend that's playing, i'll be there, or i'll watch it.
last night was no exception. i missed the BYU-UNM game for this game (granted, that game was a let-down anyway, so i didn't miss out on much)
football season is back (at least, according to BYU intramurals) and last night was Pain Train's inaugural game.
9 p.m. in what was said to be 45 degree weather (i don't believe it. i'm pretty sure it was colder than that)
we had 5 players there. everyone else was at the basketball game. we even had equal numbers of fans there as players: anna, caitlin, abby, kenady and i.
not even 5 minutes into the game and the sky starts spitting out water. (it can't even be considered drizzle) literally, random drops of water. the girls were NOT happy about that (and the fact that they were already cold didn't help) so they decided to watch the game from the car.
i've sat through football games in rain AND snow, so this was nothing new for me, and really, it wasn't that big of a deal. plus, i had nate's jacket to cover my head, so i was good.
as the girls left, i struck up a conversation with a wife of a player on the other team.
i laughed at the cowardness of my friends. she laughed and said she had three jackets piled on top of her. i said that they just weren't true fans, despite the fact that none of us HAD to be there, we have no obligations to these boys other than they're our friends.
i really just enjoy the sport, and enjoy encouraging my friends/coaching them (even if they don't take my advice)
it was a good thing i was out there, i needed to be the ball girl anyway.
later, kenady and caitlin re-joined me and we continued to freeze, but you know what? it was okay. they played well for only having 5 guys and despite the loss, it was quite enjoyable. reminded me of when i was a kid and it was just me and the boys.
i think the boys appreciated us being there too, even if the majority of us sat in the car :)
