i'm definitely guilty of this myself, especially when i have never met a person, and only have one person's opinion or experience with that individual to build my own opinion.
through my
i realized that we had gone through similar situations, think alike in certain aspects of our lives (hopeless romantic, and having high hopes were two examples) and were not as different than i had originally thought, or been led to believe, whether it was because i was biased, or what.
that's probably why i enjoy reading blogs so much: they're personal, and you can really learn a lot about a person through them.
facebook, sure, you can see what people choose to post, but most of the time it's full of opinions, sarcasm, and "good" posts. you can't see the rawness of what people are feeling, or experiencing.
blogs are just that: raw (unless they're edited, which they usually are, but whatever) words tell so much, especially when they're delivered eloquently.
you've heard the age old adage: don't judge a person until you've walked a mile in their shoes, right? well, i may not have walked in this person's shoes per se, but reading their blog gave me an insight into what kind of path they have walked, and strangely enough, it's scarily similar to paths that i've walked and makes me realize that maybe i judged too harshly and too prematurely.
so to you my blog readers, take the chance to get to know someone. don't let others' opinions sway you one way or another. take the time to learn things for yourself and maybe you'll learn things about yourself.
and maybe you'll find that the thing(s) you're missing aren't really that important, or that you don't know as much as you think you do, and you need to learn more before passing judgment.
