i know, i know, i'm behind on my 50 days post. it's coming. this weekend was slightly insane and overwhelming. but don't you fret, you'll have a halloween/roktoberfest post coming as soon as iphoto decides to work on my mac. until then...a few more thoughts on dating since my last post.
i took a chance, i invited a guy to a show i had tickets for. called even, rather than texted (mostly because i was driving and texting while driving in utah is illegal, but never mind that). now, i wasn't thinking of this as a date. it didn't need to be. i had two tickets, i thought he might enjoy going. i was taking a risk in asking. his response? "i'll have to check my schedule, but that would be fun" okay, sure, check your schedule, let me know. i gave him all weekend. i saw him all weekend. never said a word. either of us. i didn't need to bring it up, we still had time.
i waited until this morning to text a follow up: "yes? no? still maybe? if you can't go, that's fine, i'm sure i can find someone else to go if i need to". his response: "still unsure. maybe you want to ask someone else so you're not stuck with no one". wow. what a coward's way of saying, i'm not interested, thanks though. that's all it takes.
but really, why do guys feel like it's okay for them to say no to girls, but girls feel obligated to say yes? i'd say, at the very least, guys should feel obligated to say yes, or, at least not make up some lame excuse to get out of going. we're not as fragile as you think. and it takes a lot more for a girl to ask a guy out than a guy to ask a girl, there's a stigma attached to it.
so if you really don't want to go boys, then say so. we've been through enough rejection in our lives that one more won't break us.
