dating

i'm not a dater. anyone that knows me, knows this. i like hanging out, no pressure, no expectations. it's probably due to the fact that i rarely dated in high school, or even college for that matter, so i'm just no good at it.
however, i do believe that guys should be the ones to ask for a date. i don't have a problem with girls asking, but for some reason, i feel like it never works out right when a girl asks.
boys are expected to date, and encouraged to.
girls are also encouraged to, but they're expected to be the ones getting asked, not doing the asking.
so when a guy asks a girl out, it's because 1) he's interested in the girl or 2) it's just expected of him. no one judges the guy, and no assumptions are made (for the most part).
however, when a girl asks a guy out, assumptions are made that she's "way" into the guy, and as such, the guy either says no, ignores her, or, makes the date awkward because "he's not interested" (disclaimer: this is highly generalized and may not pertain to all guys, however this has been my observation and experience with guys). unless of course, the guy really is into the girl, then all of this is moot.
i think if a girl asks a guy out, it should be taken as flattering, that she thinks you worthy enough to spend time with her. don't make a big fuss out of it. it usually isn't a big of a deal. she wants to get to know you in a setting outside of a large group, and she knows (or assumes) that you probably won't take the chance yourself, and thus takes it upon herself to make things happen.
if a girl says to you "hey i'm hungry, i want to grab some food, want to come?" it's usually pretty non-committal. if you can't go, say so. if you don't want to, say so. you don't need to say anything more than that, because most likely a no will be accepted. a girl sometimes needs company that isn't another girl. we do enjoy hanging out with the boys, so please, let us, either by asking us out, or by saying yes when we ask.
