so, i had a great blog thought out in my head and then i started browsing other blogs and completely lost my train of thought :(
all i know is that these past few days have been pretty good.
my mom flew into Salt Lake International Airport on Thursday night for a weekend with me. Matt drove with me since her flight was getting in late. I'm not going to lie, but it felt like I was trying to force him into conversation. I hate that. Normally I can drive in silence with some music in the background, but I felt like there was a lot of tension in the air and awkwardness. I hate that feeling. So I tried to get him to talk....didn't work quite as well as I had hoped. Driving back, it was mostly my mom and I talking and catching up on the things that had happened in the few hours since I had last talked with her. Every once in a while, Matt had something to say, so he would pipe up and state his opinion and it was great, but other than that...very tight lipped.
i didn't know what to make of that.
having in my mom in town has been good and bad. good because we've had fun. bad because i feel out of the loop on everything, that i've missed out on a lot of things my friends have done. but, friday my mom and i went to class, browsed the bookstore where i got a new BYU shirt, toured the MOA, picked up amanda and got costa vida. then we headed up the canyon to check out the fall colors. beautiful. probably my favorite thing to do here.
we went to the mall after that and shopped a bit, mostly for me, since my birthday is coming up. that was pretty fantastic. we went into Zumiez (which i love) and had great conversations with three of the employees there. one about snowboarding and sundance, another about shoes, and a third about longboards. the longboard dude was pretty cute and gave me some good information on the type of board i should get if i decided to get one. plus he wished me a happy birthday :)
after the mall we came back to my apartment so i could work on some homework and rest a bit, since we'd had a long day. we hit up jason's deli for a late dinner and then went to the creamery for ice cream. then we came home and crashed.
woke up saturday and got ready for the football game. it was pretty freezing, especially compared to the 71 degrees it was the day before. the game rocked though. pretty decent seats, AND it started to SNOW in the middle of the third. by that point, i was freezing, so we stayed to watch "Cosmo Reloaded" and to see BYU's final touchdown the beginning of the 4th quarter and then headed home. it was snowing SO HARD that by the time we got back to my apartment, we looked like snowmen. pretty rad. and i have to admit, i was stoked. it's never snowed this early in the year, and especially not 3 days before my birthday. probably one of the coolest birthday presents ever. after warming up and changing, we went to costa vida (again), then went to the grocery store to get food for tonight's dinner. after dropping the groceries at home we went to the dollar theater to see becoming jane. good movie. i really liked it. it made me want to fall in love. :)
sunday, typical. went to church, then came home and started dinner, since i had invited Matt and Amanda over for a little birthday dinner care of my mother. REALLY GOOD. both the food and the conversation. i felt like things were better with me and Matt...not quite as awkward. so definitely a good thing. ate some cake, smeared some frosting on Matt's nose ;) and had a good talk with Amanda. I feel like things will be ok, normal...and maybe something more will happen when he's ready. if not, then alright, i'll be ok with that. but i can always hope, right? :)
