"a friend is someone who brings you closer to Christ"
i've heard this quote twice in the last month.
it's obviously made an impression on me, if i'm making a blog post about it.
i never really thought of a friend like this before, but this definition definitely makes sense.
i know i've grown up in the Church and have had friends throughout that time.
i even went to BYU and made great friends there.
but never before had i thought that any of those people, though great in their own respects, had ever really brought me closer to Christ.
sure, they've taught me about myself and helped me grow, but it wasn't until recently that i met someone that turned into that friend that truly did bring me closer to Christ, and my Heavenly Father.
this person doesn't even realize the affect they've had on my life, or if they do, they don't understand the depth of that influence.
i owe my spiritual growth to this person, to this friend, this good friend, that without even knowing led me to where i am now. i couldn't have asked for anything better.
that's what this life is about, isn't it? finding friends that will, without knowing it, lift you up, strengthen your testimony, bring you closer to your creator.
if i could, i would try my hardest to repay this person for giving me the greatest gift anyone could give.
however, at this time, it's not possible, and perhaps it never will be, but maybe this post will be sufficient.
so to that friend, i thank you, from the depth of my heart.
