oh boy. it's three days in and i've yet to post. probably not the best way to start the new year. however, the year is off to a pretty good start. new years' was fun, drama-free and sort of anti-climatic. just the way i like it. spent the night with my friends and danced like the crazies we are. and then enjoyed a late night, (very) early morning breakfast at IHOP with those same friends plus two (colton and austin, you're good men for joining us. caitlin and anna, you're lame for being tired. ha. jokes) i slept in, cleaned, lounged around watching reruns of One Tree Hill. didn't start my "healthier eating habits" quite yet--ate a frozen burrito (chicken!) for lunch, and then chips, guac and queso later while watching football games. oh and oatmeal at 11:30 p.m. so that i wouldn't be completely famished for fast sunday.
sunday i woke up early-ish to get my crock pot going for dinner that night AND still got ready in time for church. yay me! i even bore my testimony in sacrament. that's a big deal (helped that there were probably only 30 people there haha. less intimidating) too bad I came home and realized i failed to PLUG IN the crock pot. frantic, i plugged it in and tried to ease my rumbling stomach with ice cream (oops!) and then proceeded to make rolls and eat two of those. luckily the sunshine house saved me with lunch/dinner at their place. after lying around for a few hours, i decided i needed to rescue my meal which then led to me eating more while watching another episode of one tree hill.
along with my other goals, i decided i needed to be more involved in THIS ward as well this semester, get my name out there, hope for more than just a couple dates, and so i headed over to ward prayer, whose attendance was sparse and i left immediately after it ended rather than socialize.
so much for that goal. :) i'll get better once everyone else is in town again. promise.
also, at work this morning, i was semi-training a new girl {what is WITH this new hiring deal??} and she asked the basics about me: where i'm from, what i'm doing here, where i went to school, what my degree is in, when i graduated, etc. and one question specifically was, "oh so you graduated last year?" and my automatic response was, "yes" to which i backtracked and had to correct myself, stuttering all the while, saying, "oh wait, no, i graduated 2009. weird that i can't say "last year" anymore" and it really is weird. i mean, technically, i haven't been out of school for 2 years, but i can no longer say last year, i'll have to give a year instead. another thought {random, but correlates--why is BYU starting on a tuesday this semester?? lame} i was looking at the academic calendar for BYU (i'm bored...) and realized that fall semester this year starts on the same day that i started when i was a freshman, 6 YEARS AGO. is that crazy or what?? i mean, why are these years going by so fast? (i've heard tell that as you get older, time seems to move faster. why is that?}
so to you, twenty eleven (since two thousand eleven sounds funny), i ask that you APPEAR to go slower than last year. i'd like to learn to appreciate every day, remember all the things i've done, and fill my days with smiles, laughs, good times, friends, family and fun. can you help me out with that? thanks.
