pet peeves

i know i've made a list of pet peeves before. in fact, i'm sure of it. look back on my other post here.
anyway, the other day, something happened (couldn't tell you what it is now, of course) that made me think "oh i hate when that happens!" and want to add it to my list of pet peeves. of course, this list is continuously growing. but today at work, something else was added to my list (the first one) which i will detail below.

making me out to be a fool
i'm not an idiot, by any means. sure, i might have my dumb moments, when i haven't entirely thought things through, or when i'm just not paying attention, and that's fine. but don't treat me like i'm a complete moron. i'm not. if you're trying to do that, you clearly don't know me well enough.
take today at work for example. one of our staff was using the copier, i came up to use it, so she grabbed the things she was copying, which i got a glimpse of: it happened to be data documentation for the clients she works with. monthly, our staff take notes on what our clients do in regards to goals they have made. this staff was making copies. meaning, she was not going to be doing any work for the next few months, because her "data" was already collected and written down. not. she grabbed her things and then turned to give me last month's info for my report, obviously thinking i had not just seen what she did. (and another staff member does this same thing, but i've had his supervisor informed of it, but it has not remedied the situation) girl, i did. i know. and you are not about to get away with it.
another example: when people act like nothing is going on, when there is CLEARLY something going on, but no one wants me to know, and no one wants to inform me of it. guys, i'm observant, i can come to my own conclusions, even if you won't tell me anything. so it's better that it comes straight from your mouth, otherwise i'll start jumping to conclusions, and then we'll really have a mess on our hands.

slow/inconsiderate drivers
can we say all of the drivers in the state of Utah? i don't think i need to say much more about this

people who stop mid stride in the middle of a busy mall
again, self-explanatory.

crowds
and this goes along with the above mentioned one. if there is a crowd, don't stop walking! keep going, otherwise you're just going to hold everyone else up and make it worse.
i've told people that i'm claustrophobic, and i believe i am, to an extent. i don't get anxious or freak out (the crow in the movie rock-a-doodle comes to mind when they're locked in the trunk going through the aqueduct, anyone?) but i get angry and annoyed when people are pushing up against me and i can't get through to where i need to be. actually, back in high school, 9th grade i believe, i told andrew frey that i was claustrophobic because he had pushed his desk right up next to mine when we were working on an assignment, and i didn't want him to be that close to me. needless to say, that has kind of stuck with me, and now i don't like crowds, especially in small spaces.

and i really, REALLY don't like when people patronize me

  1. I wish people would quit saying Utah drivers are bad drivers. First off, the worst experiences I've had while driving in Utah have been in Provo with people who have other states on their license plates. Most commonly, CALIFORNIA. Everywhere has bad drivers, and everywhere has good drivers. I'm from Utah, and I'm a really good driver.
I do agree with the mall thing, because that happens all the time at school too. Especially at BYUI.
