last friday i walked to work from my house, as i only had to be there for an hour and i figured it didn't make much sense to take the car. plus, it's good exercise.
i have to say it's a good 2.5 miles from my house.
i've only done this walk once before, but it's pretty nice.
it takes me back along paths i used to run when i was in cross country in high school.
on this particular day, i had some run-ins that put a smile on my face.
while on the way there, i ran into the missionaries on their tracting path.
i wish i had time to stop and chat.
however, i was already late, but they were pleasant enough, saying hi and asking me how i was doing.
on the way back though, the crossing guard and i had a nice little chat.
he asked me if i was a college student.
i said no, that i had just graduated from BYU last year.
he asked me what i studied and when i told him political science he shook my hand and said, "Madam President."
oh what joy those words brought to my ears :)
he then said, "i think you'd be good for the job, i would vote for you"
now, i get friends that say that all the time, but to hear that from a stranger?
how fantastic!
i smiled all the way across the street and wished it was 23 years into the future when i can actually RUN for office ;)
the second smile came on the second half of my walk, when my feet killed, my shoes were in my hand and i was walking barefoot the rest of the way.
a little boy (everyone knows how i adore little children) was playing along the sidewalk and as i came closer, he squealed and ran towards me, allllll smiles.
i slowed down, smiled and "talked" to him for a minute or so.
oh how i love babes. they warm my soul with their innocence and their eagerness for life!
